           On the Record:
           Providing for Abused Animals

 

 

The Idaho Humane Society is located in District 18. During her time in office, Senator Kelly has become an active advocate for animal protection. Her accomplishments in this area include:
 
  • Passing an amendment to Idaho 's animal cruelty statute to clarify that the statute's provisions apply to persons who are not the animal's owner. 
  •  Passing a bill to allow animal control agencies to better recover the costs associated with caring for seized animals pending the outcome of criminal proceedings for the animals' owner. 
  •  Supporting a change to the law to make dog fighting a felony.
