           Supporting Our Military
   
 

We are proud to have Gowen Field located in Idaho 's District 18. Senator Kelly believes that we owe a debt of gratitude to our service members and their families. Thousands of Idahoans have served deployments – and re-deployments – in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. Many veterans rebound successfully from their war experiences. For others, however, combat can impose long-lasting, chronic challenges. In addition, military service can impose financial and emotional hardship on service members and their families.

During her first two terms in office, Senator Kelly

  • Authored a memorial requesting that the President and Congress pursue efforts to ensure that our returning service members have access to the range and quality of health care services they require.  
  • Co-sponsored a bill to ensure service members employed by the state have medical benefits from the state at the start of their deployment until the federal insurance commences.  
  • Supported measures to expand the scholarship opportunities for veterans and their families.
